Hello and welcome to the about page of Scholarly Nurse. Allow me to share a brief history of why this business was founded.
I am Virginia, the CEO and Founder of Scholarly Nurse, LLC. I graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and am a Registered Nurse by profession. I previously worked as A hospital Med-Surg nurse and am currently working full-time in the home health industry. I established this business to fill a gap in the learning needs of nurses or soon-to-be nurses who would like to perform better in their respective fields.
The process of learning entails several steps, starting with the acquisition of information from various sources, synthesizing it, and committing the same to memory. As such, no teaching method can claim to be the best when it comes to the learning process.
In my experience as a student in nursing school, I noticed that many nursing courses were not set up effectively and did not teach the subjects efficiently. While the professors were very good teachers, I found their methods lacking at times as they had not properly adopted all the different teaching styles to promote the best and most effective ways of learning. Many members of my cohort also shared the same sentiment and opted to pay for supplemental services to help them pass classes.
This gap in the learning process urged me to try to create various teaching materials that will satisfy the three styles of learning: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. During nursing school, I began hosting study sessions to assess if the materials I created are indeed effective learning tools among those students. I posted some of those materials online and still occasionally receive messages from current nursing students expressing their appreciation. One professor also requested permission to use concept maps that I created for Pharmacology in her class presentations.
Aside from enjoying being a resource or go-to person during nursing school, I also felt a different sense of fulfillment whenever I heard that the materials that I created helped others understand the concepts, pass or even ace an exam!
The resources that you will find on the Scholarly Nurse e-learning platform will not only help you survive nursing school and master nursing concepts; it will also equip you with the knowledge necessary to hurdle the NCLEX.
During this time, when nurses are in demand, some may find it necessary to go back to school to become a nurse. The Scholarly Nurse e-learning platform will be a great tool to help you become a well-informed and effective nurse.
When I am not working, I usually spend my time with my family. I’m a wife and a mother of four wonderful and beautiful children.
